TDI: 3 What's this?

This gallery contains photos from two beach towns in the state of Rio de Janeiro: Parati, Trindade, and the city of Rio de Janeiro as well.

The state of Rio de Janeiro is very green

I followed some goat trails and got rewarded with this view of Parati

On the beach trail in Trinidade. It seems like everybody loves to decorate this bamboo tree.

If you’re interested in my stories from traveling in South America, I would recommend checking out my Peru post.

graffiti under highway, rio de janeiro
In my experience, Brazil is the world’s capital of graffiti. Street art can be enjoyed in all of the cities. Rio de Janeiro is no exception.
copacabana from jungle hill
This may look like a clichéd photo of Copacabana, but for me, it has much greater significance: First, I had to navigate through a favela to find this trail. Then I had to struggle to stay on the trail, cause it’s faded in many sections. Obviously, nobody comes up here….

I’ve made a short video with my phone from the streets of Rio de Janeiro

painted wall in favela in rio de janeiro
A view from one of Rio’s favelas. Next to me, there is a cool statue of Michael Jackson. I didn’t wanna take a picture of it because some locals were following me and telling me about it. I was assuming that if I took a picture of a statue, they would ask me for money. Anyway, I was very impressed by the fact that there’s a legit five-foot statue ‘hidden’ deep inside a favela.
pao de acucar
…and this tourist viewpoint. It was a nightmare: 1000 tourists around me. Don’t even know how I was able to get a clear shot of Pao de Acucar

If you liked the photos of Rio de Janeiro, I would recommend checking out my photo gallery from the neighboring country of Colombia
